Keep speaking until your voice…

makes it possible for no one to get left behind.

about me

Never allow the isolation to silence your voice; let the pressure of darkness guide you to your rightful position…

for darkness is not to attack the uncalled, it’s only to attack those who are called for a brighter assignment.

My name is Jalon Hall, and my journey is a testament to resilience and determination in the face of adversity. Born Deaf, I embarked on my journey towards advocacy from a young age. At just 18 months old, I began speech therapy, empowered by my parents to use my voice despite the challenges I faced when speaking. Despite this intense, I continued to embrace both sign language and spoken communication simultaneously.

As a Black Deaf woman, I have encountered countless obstacles in my life, from being misunderstood and underestimated to facing discrimination in the workplace. But through it all, I have remained steadfast in my commitment to driving change and fostering inclusion.

Over my 24+ years of advocacy, I've remained unwaveringly committed to human rights and the principles of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). In a world where assumptions and biases often dictate one's potential, my journey is defined by my relentless pursuit of fostering inclusion and dismantling barriers in the workplace.

Throughout my career, I've confronted pervasive unconscious bias and endured doubts about my abilities as a Black Deaf professional. Despite facing expectations to conform to hearing norms and the misconception that speaking somehow diminishes my Deaf identity, I emerged as a vocal advocate for workplace accessibility. Determined to ensure equal opportunities for every individual, regardless of background or abilities, my advocacy knows no bounds.

In my current role as an investigator and research analyst at Google, I actively champion initiatives aimed at promoting inclusion and equity. Through leadership, I empower and advocate for the Black d/Deaf community rights and amplify their voices within the organization to be heard. Collaborating with hearing allies and fostering open communication, I'm breaking down barriers and creating a more inclusive environment for all.

My advocacy extends beyond the confines of the workplace. Deeply committed to raising awareness about the intersectional challenges faced by Black d/Deaf individuals, I advocate for policies that advance the rights of people with disabilities. From understanding privilege to prioritizing accessibility and fostering open dialogue, I'm dedicated to driving tangible progress and ensuring that no one is left behind.

Ultimately, my story serves as a reminder of the transformation power of advocacy and the importance of standing up for what is right. By championing ADA rights and elevating the voices of marginalized communities, I am helping to build a more just and inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. In the face of isolation, rejection, and mistreatment, I remain resilient, paving the way for others despite facing marginalization. My narrative underscores the importance of empathy and understanding, urging us to recognize the hidden complexities behind each individual's experience.

My journey is a powerful reminder that through empathy, determination, and collective action, we can create a world where diversity is celebrated, barriers are dismantled, and every individual is valued for who they are. Join me on this journey of empowerment and change, and together, let's create a brighter future for all.
